To ensure the highest level of nautical safety, Hornblower Cruises & Events San Diego recently participated in the Coastal Trident Regional Port and Maritime Security Program in the San Diego Bay.
Conducted annually by the Naval Postgraduate School’s Center for Asymmetric Warfare, the program focuses on threats to the Maritime Transportation System throughout Southern California. More than 800 personnel from 166 organizations participated.
Exercises like these strengthen the relationships between all participating parties, ensuring first responders are properly prepared for any (unlikely, but possible) safety and security incidents.
Highlights from the exercises included Coast Guard and local law enforcement personnel boarding the vessel by “hook and climb” from boats and “fast roping” from Navy MH-60S helicopters. A medevac scenario was also demonstrated, which involved hoisting an injured responder from the deck by helicopter.
Thanks to all who participated and continue to contribute to the safety of all personnel on our yachts!
