Fin Whales
Common Dolphins

2 fin whales at 9-mile bank. Several common dolphins are feeding just outside the harbor. Beautiful, calm seas and warm weather.

9:30 am Whale Watch & Dolphin Sightings:

Common Dolphins

It was a beautiful day aboard the Hornblower with blue skies and calm seas. We had passengers visiting from all over as they celebrated Spring Break and the Easter holiday weekend. We were treated to an active pod of 75 common dolphins who delighted guests with jumping high out of the air and swimming in the boat’s wake. It was a beautiful day on the water!

Bottlenose Dolphins
Common Dolphins

Today’s search for marine life was rewarded early with a small pod of Bottlenose dolphins in the bay. During the cruise, we encountered several small pods of Common Dolphins that were more interested in feeding than visiting the boat. Our last sighting of Common Dolphins was a large nursery pod with both adults and babies. They delighted passengers by swimming close to the boat and leaping out of the water.

Bottlenose Dolphins
Fin Whales

Today’s trip provided passengers the opportunity to watch two Fin whales feeding offshore. They made many powerful blows and stayed close to the surface. A pod of Bottlenose dolphins came to swim next to the boat, making this an exciting day for spotting marine life.

Fin Whales
Common Dolphin

On the ocean. We saw three fin whales briefly, and then two of them stayed so we could see them for a while. We saw a couple of small pods of common dolphins. One pod was a nursery pod with babies.
We also saw several large rays swimming around the boat. The gray whales were elusive today.
