9:00 am Whale Watch & Dolphin Sightings:

Common Dolphins
Mola Mola

Calm day on the water – we left under cloud cover that gradually cleared. A small pod of common dolphins was feeding and swam with us for a little while. We also had a good view of a submarine returning to SD Bay. Several passengers spotted a mola mola.

9:00 am Whale Watch & Dolphin Sightings:

200 Common Dolphins

No whales today, but we did see two pods of common dolphin totaling about 200. We were also treated to the sight of the USCG tall ship Eagle, which passed us coming into San Diego Bay.

9:00 am Whale Watch & Dolphin Sightings:

6 Bottlenose Dolphins
4 Risso Dolphins
2000 Common Dolphins

We had our first sighting of marine life as we left the harbor where Bottlenose Dolphins were swimming alongside a Navy vessel entering the harbor. We traveled beyond the Nine Mile Bank and while we did not find whales, we did find a small pod of Risso Dolphins. On our return trip, we encountered a large pod of Comon Dolphins. They swam all around the boat and could be seen far into the distance. They stayed with the boat for quite some time and entertained guest riding the bow waves and leaping out of the water.

Your naturalist,

Glenda
