AMAZING PEOPLE CREATING AMAZING EXPERIENCES
Hornblower Niagara Cruises Recognized as one of Hamilton-Niagara’s Top Employers
NIAGARA FALLS, Ont. — Hornblower Niagara Cruises is proud to be 1 of 20 companies to win the Hamilton-Niagara Top Employer Award for 2020, an annual competition organized by the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers. This special designation recognizes the employers in the Hamilton-Niagara area of Ontario that lead their industries in offering exceptional places to work.
“Our success is a result of our extraordinary team of people,” said vice-president & general manager Mory DiMaurizio. “They show up each day creating amazing experiences for thousands of visitors. What we have accomplished together in the last five years is truly special.”
Hornblower Niagara Cruises (HNC) has mostly a seasonal workforce of just over 200 people who understand that they are all active and equal contributors, working together to produce a unique, one-of-a-kind experience for all guests. Their employees achieve this every day because of their dedication to quality, safety, the environment and their team. It is because of this commitment that HNC believes it can never lose sight of the most critical factor to their success – it’s People!
“Our people are our greatest asset, and this award reinforces that we are focusing and investing in the right areas to enhance our employees’ overall experience.” added Di Maurizio. “Every year we are eager to bring on board new employees who are looking for a fast-paced work environment where they get to interact with guests from all across the world.”
Throughout the season, Hornblower recognizes its employees through various events including holiday parties, appreciation barbeques and special treat days. They also offer many employee programs which include Health, Safety and Wellness Month, complimentary boat tour tickets, bi-weekly employee recognition awards and employee referral programs. For returning employees, many can become eligible for full-time benefit programs based on length of service, including annual bonuses, health care spending accounts, and educational reimbursements.
Committed to continuous improvement, HNC fosters a workplace of open communication through annual surveys, an Employee Quality Committee, leadership round-tables and an open-door policy where employees can share feedback and ideas to improve their work environment.
In addition, thousands of guests are surveyed every year asking questions about their recent visit including their overall customer service experience, cleanliness of the property and boats, and likelihood to recommend Hornblower Niagara Cruises to family and friends. Hornblower’s Net Promoter Score (NPS), the world’s leading metric for customer loyalty, ranks in the “world-class” category based on global NPS standards.
Hornblower Niagara Cruises creates amazing experiences for millions of guests each year. In May 2014, HNC entered into a 30-year contract with the Niagara Parks Commission and opened as the official boat tour operator to the iconic Niagara Falls in Canada.
