Here at Hornblower, we know the holidays are a special time to gather with friends and family, to come together and celebrate. While that may not be possible this year, we believe in doing what we can to bring that holiday feeling to the table. This Thanksgiving, let us share some of the tips and tricks that make hosting fun. Join us as we set the table and gather virtually.

Hornblower At Home

With hospitality being the core of our guiding principles, we encourage everyone to treat themselves as guests as you celebrate. With this in mind, our team has been working hard, developing ways to bring a cornucopia of ideas to our guests. We call this Hornblower at Home. Here, we’ll share recipes and techniques you’ll find on our boats and venues as well as fresh new ideas. Stay tuned here for updates on new ways to celebrate the holidays with pro tips and tricks as well as exciting recipes from our decks and kitchens to your home.

Right now, we’re giving thanks, and there’s no better way to do that than by making someone feel welcome. We believe that putting care into our gathering space, and treating ourselves and loved ones is a great start. Here’s how we’re warming up the table and kitchen. We start by creating an inviting table and then serve a delicious series of beverages. From the start of your meal to finish, you’re sure to have a blast.

Table Decor: 3 Ways to Fold a Napkin

As you prepare to host your holidays at home, even if it’s just for you and yours, we know that there’s a little something extra about a well-decorated table that just makes your meal *pop*. To achieve that restaurant-quality tablescape, we’ve compiled some of our favorite ways to let your napkin go from functional to festive. Choose between a cutlery pocket or an elegant wrap that’s perfect for housing silverware.  Planning to assign spots? The place card holder is perfect for your table.

Setting the table with these festive napkin arrangements is a great way to delegate a fun project to kids of all ages (even those who aren’t “kids”!) so that dinner prep can continue uninterrupted. Too many cooks is a recipe for distaster!

For those who are ready to let the fun times begin, we also have a collection of fun fall-themed drinks that are a great mood booster to embrace cooler weather and giving thanks to your nearest and dearest.

Classic Hot Toddy

Looking for something to warm you up as the festivities begin? Try this classic hot toddy recipe – which some swear is a great cure for a ticklish throat(!).  All you need is a lemon, bourbon, honey, hot water and a cinnamon stick. Add, stir, garnish, and enjoy!

Thanksgiving Sangria

Once you’ve warmed up a bit, carry through a little something sweet. By now, the entrées and sides are coming together – there’s no better pairing that sweet and savory! This fruit-forward beverage is a seasonal favorite. To make, combine sliced apples and oranges, apple cider, bourbon, red wine, and cinnamon sticks for an autumn treat. Combine, give them a good stir, an overnight chill and pour over ice with optional apple, orange or cinnamon stick garnish.

Pumpkin Spice White Russian

Finally, it’s time for a decadent dessert. Pair this creamy delight with your favorite fall pie and enjoy! First, lay crushed graham crackers, mixed with cinnamon on a plate. Then, wet your glass rim, and dip for a delightfully crumbly ring. Next, add ice, vodka, coffee liqueur, pumpkin spice creamer and stir. Finally, garnish with pumpkin pie spice and a cinnamon stick and enjoy.
