Introducing New Hygiene and Service Protocols to Ensure the Wellbeing of Everyone

Marina del Rey, June 8, 2020 – Hornblower Cruises and Events will be restarting its Marina del Rey operations on Saturday, June 13, offering a limited choice of seated public and group dining cruises in accordance with Governor Newsom’s phased reopening plan. With guest spaces spread over several levels, the company’s fleet of luxurious vessels offer expansive decks inside and out, providing plentiful space and fresh air. Combined with reduced guest capacity and changes to seating layout, guests can easily maintain the minimum 6-foot distance. There is more than enough room on board for everyone to stay safely apart.

To provide reassurance in the current pandemic environment, Hornblower has expanded its industry defining SafeCruise by Hornblower program, building on already stringent sanitation processes, to incorporate further health-driven measures to guard against the spread of COVID-19 and other viruses.

“We welcome the opportunity to restart and are well prepared to welcome our guests back on board,” said Kevin Lorton, Hornblower’s Regional Vice President for Southern California. “At Hornblower, we are proud of our excellent safety and sanitation track record and always operate and maintain a rigorous process around cleanliness and hygiene. So, while our Guests can still expect the same high standards and welcoming service, we are adapting our amazing experiences to reflect the need for social distance, alongside elevated health and hygiene practices.”

Hornblower has reviewed every aspect of the guest experience journey and is taking all steps necessary to ensure the wellbeing of everyone on board. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Mandatory daily crew member health screening, and wearing of appropriate PPE
  • Kurekebisha taratibu za bweni na tiketi ili kuruhusu umbali wa kijamii na kuingia bila kugusa
  • Kuwataka wageni kuvaa barakoa wakati wa kusugua, isipokuwa wakati wa kula na kunywa
  • Reducing the number of guests on board, and adapting table spacing to allow for a minimum 6-foot distance between guests while they dine
  • Utekelezaji wa taratibu zilizoimarishwa za usafi wa mazingira na utoaji wa dawa, na vituo vya kutakasa mikono vinapatikana kote

Marina del Rey Cruise Experiences Resuming on June 13
Initially available on weekends (Friday, Saturday and Sunday), Hornblower will be offering brunch and dinner cruises featuring delicious cuisine alongside a sophisticated selection of award-winning wines, craft beers and specialty cocktails.  To reflect current requirements, as set out by Los Angeles County, some of the usual elements like entertainment, dancing and a walk-up bar service won’t be permitted. Cruise prices start from *$82.00 for brunch or *$105.00 for dinner for a freshly prepared, multi-course plated menu (prices per person, excl. fees & taxes). More sailings will be added, subject to demand. While for private groups, Hornblower Private Yachts also operates a choice of luxurious charter experiences.
Marina del Rey is the company’s third Californian port to reopen, joining Newport Beach and San Diego which recently resumed operations. For the time being, Hornblower will be offering a choice of dining cruises only and plans to resume its full range of experiences such as cocktail cruises and special events when current restrictions are lifted.
