New York City is one of the most popular cities in the world and arguably what comes to mind when thinking of the United States and its iconic landmarks such as the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building, baseball, apple pie, and the home of the American Dream. There is no better place to enjoy fireworks and feel your most patriotic than in the Big Apple. With so many things to do and options to choose from, it’s impossible to be bored, and the choices seem endless. The city is famous for many reasons, one being the incredible fireworks displays put on twice each year in a myriad of locations. Let’s explore the details of these explosive eye candy shows.

NYC is known as the city that never sleeps and for good reason. Considering how many fun things to do in NYC there are, this should come as no surprise! While it’s not uncommon for fireworks to pop up around the city throughout the year, New York City puts on two famous fireworks displays each year. New Year’s Eve Fireworks and the 4th of July are the two best holidays to experience fireworks in NYC. What better way to view the show?

The 4th of July celebration and fireworks display is put on each year by Macy’s on the 4th of July at 9:25 pm. This is not only a firework spectacular; there are many famous performers to entertain you as well. The best spot to see these are 42nd Street and FDR Drive (which includes ADA/special needs viewing area). Be sure to get there early as space is limited. The New Year’s Rockin’ Eve Celebration is hosted annually on December 31st, New Year’s Eve, ending with a fantastic fireworks display while the ball drops in Times Square at midnight. This most popular event is a showstopper like no other when the clock strikes midnight and the ball drops, the fireworks begin, and you will be dazzled. If you’re brave enough to put up with crowds this iconic party has it all with live musical performances, the famous ball drop, and a massive firework display. This is sure to be the sparkling event of the season.

Trying to find an unobstructed view of the New York fireworks shows can be tricky. The thousands of high-rise buildings and skyscrapers make it quite challenging, and the location isn’t always the same every year. However, there are dozens of viewing spots in the city for every location, you just have to know where to look. So light those sparklers and get in the patriotic spirit (and be prepared to have a little patience) and get ready to be impressed because New York City does fireworks like no other.

The Brooklyn Bridge is one of the most popular and easy-to-access viewing locations in New York. The Bridge gives various perspectives on the New York City fireworks shows. Additionally, if you like pizza, Fornino’s in Brooklyn Bridge Park has a great rooftop area for viewing sights as well.
