London Transport Museum

Het London Transport Museum in Covent Garden is de thuisbasis voor alles wat te maken heeft met het rijke erfgoed van het Londense vervoer. Families can also join in hands-on, fun workshops, where they can meet real-life innovators and create their climate change superhero or create Family Action Cards to get inspired to take action to make London a greener city. All workshops are drop-in and free with museum admission, and kids go free!

Het is het hoogste uitkragende observatiewiel van Europa en is de populairste betaalde toeristische attractie in het Verenigd Koninkrijk met jaarlijks meer dan 3 miljoen bezoekers! Kom naar de London Eye en geniet van het uitzicht over Londen op grote hoogte!

Het London Eye werd oorspronkelijk gebouwd ter gelegenheid van de millenniumwisseling in 2000. Het werd ontworpen door de architecten David Marks en Julia Barfield en was bedoeld als tijdelijke installatie, maar de populariteit zorgde ervoor dat het permanent werd. Met een hoogte van 135 meter (443 voet) was het het hoogste reuzenrad ter wereld toen het werd gebouwd.

The Eye bestaat uit 32 verzegelde en van airconditioning voorziene passagierscapsules die elk van de Londense stadsdelen vertegenwoordigen. Elke capsule biedt plaats aan maximaal 25 personen en biedt een panoramisch uitzicht over het stadslandschap tijdens de rotatie van 30 minuten. Op een heldere dag kun je vanaf de top monumenten als Buckingham Palace, St. Paul's Cathedral en de Shard zien.
