We’d love to give you some great tips for specific themes but if you’re picking a theme based on what we say, you’re not looking in the right place for inspiration. Hornblower can help with all the other details but the theme should really be based on what your child likes.

Photography
Make sure you capture all of the events on camera. It’s usually a good idea to hire a professional, and to get both photos and video. If you want the best, ask to see examples of their work. When it comes to photographers, ask to see albums of previous Bat/Bar Mitzvahs they have photographed.

Invitations
Make sure you get invitations out early. A good guide to timing is to get out a save the date email about six months before the date of the Bar/Bat Mitzvah. This gives plenty of time for any out-of-town guests to make travel arrangements etc. You want to be sure no one who should be there has an excuse not to be there.
