What is considered the oldest Thanksgiving Day Parade is in Philadelphia and has been happening for more than a century. The parade is for all ages and features floats, balloons, musical acts, cheerleaders, marching bands, and dancers. Held this year on Thursday, Nov. 23, 2023, the parade starts at 9:00am ET and lasts about 2.5 to 3 hours. The parade begins around 20th and JFK Boulevard and goes through the city for 1.4 miles. Get there early to grab a spot; some people begin camping out around sunrise.
If you’re really stuffed after Thanksgiving, why not go for a run? Sign up for the Run Off the Turkey Trot 5K/10K/13.1 Philadelphia on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2023, starting at 7:30am. Run in this small, private group in the annual Turkey Trot Run. The run is open to all paces and ages, but those under 18 must have a guardian. The run is stress-free with no timing chips.
