WHAT IS HORNBLOWER?

 

In 1980,Terry MacRae,Hornblower Chief Executive Officer, President and Owner and at the time business owner acquired Hornblower Coach Cruises based in Berkeley, California which featured two-yachts that mainly focused on private charters. In 1992, Hornblower rebranded the company to ‘Hornblower Cruises & Events’ to more accurately reflect the services offered. Today, the company operates more than 32 vessels across California, New York and most recently in Niagara Falls, Ontario for Hornblower Niagara Cruises. Environmental responsibility takes a high priority across all of Hornblower’s facilities and vessels. WHEN DID HORNBLOWER START OPERATING?

Thirty-five years ago, Hornblower was offered for sale. What started as a two boat, 114-passenger charter yacht company based in Berkeley, California has since expanded to 50-boat multi-million company across North America. Throughout the years, the business expanded and increased in a range of consumers which meant it wasn’t just delivering for businesses but for social activities including weddings, film shoots and any type of special event.

Hornblower’s head office is located in San Francisco, California at Pier 3  and 1.3miles away from America’s most famous federal penitentiary, Alcatraz located on Alcatraz Island.

WHAT OTHER PORTS DOES HORNBLOWER OPERATE?

 

Not only does Hornblower operate Hornblower Niagara Cruises, but it also operates at a number of locations across California’s west coast and the east coast in New York. Ports include San Francisco, San Diego, Sacramento, Marina Del Rey, Newport Beach, Corpus Christi, Berkeley, Long Beach, New York and Niagara Falls.

In 2006, Hornblower was awarded the U.S. National Park Service concession for the exclusive operation of boat tours to the famous Alcatraz Island. Two years later, Hornblower was awarded it’s second U.S. National Park Service award when it took over the ferry service to the Statue of Liberty National Monument & Ellis Island Memorial Museum in New York. In 2012, Hornblower Niagara Cruises won the competitive bid to operate as the official boat tour operator on the Canadian side of the Niagara River to Niagara Falls.
