He’s travelled the world, he’s short and stout and he loves his red cap. If you guessed old Saint Nick a.k.a Santa Claus, guess again. The world famous garden gnome also know as the Travelocity Roaming Gnome made a visit to the honeymoon capital, Niagara Falls, Ontario this past weekend. The roaming gnome made a few stops to a number of Niagara Falls attractions including us, Hornblower Niagara Cruises for an exclusive visit on board our brand new state-of-the-art catamarans to experience the roar of the thunderous and majestic Falls.

Among his visit to Niagara Falls, he also stopped at a number of Niagara Falls and Niagara-on-the-Lake attractions including the Niagara Parks Commission’s Journey Behind the Falls, Butterfly Conservatory, Queenston Heights, Skywheel and Ravine Winery in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Ontario. The story about the roaming gnomes began in 2004 when he was nabbed from a ‘very boring garden’ and since then travelled to hundreds of  exciting countries around the world making him a famous icon for the world wide online travel-booking agency. This occurrence happens quite often where travel enthusiasts would be on the hunt for garden gnomes by stealing them and packing them in backpacks for a fun and social experience to share with family and friends back home. Many may ask where is home for the famous gnome. Based out of Texas, the gnome finds time to relax from his travels.

This year alone the travelling gnome has travelled to Machu Picchu, Ireland and Washington D.C. making a big stop to the White House.  Part of their worldwide visit includes a stop in breath-taking Ontario, Canada travelling to a number of destinations and exciting attractions as part of Travelocity’s Seize the Summer online contest where Canadians can win $21,000 worth in summer travel.

He may only stand at 2 feet tall, the famous red cap, blue short and rosy nose adventurer has a massive online presence with more than 84,000 followers on Twitter. Pretty good for someone whose lips are sealed! The famous little man also has his own foam stunt double and travelling entourage to assist with his travels.

Travelling on the ‘Voyage to the Falls’ boat tour brought much excitement for guests and staff who recognized the small but big celebrity figure. Wrapped in a ‘baby’ red poncho to match his famous cap, the gnome stood proudly on the railings of the boat with the famous Falls in the distance. His entourage and members of the Hornblower Niagara Cruises marketing department were present capturing the social experience along the way

Thank you to our friends at Travelocity for stopping by Niagara’s newest experience to capture the fun and excitement. We sure had the time of our lives with

It is safe to say he couldn’t stop smiling the entire time!
