Just when you thought Niagara Falls couldn’t get more famous, it just did!

Since Hornblower Niagara Cruises opened in May 2014, we have had the privilege in welcoming Actors, Singers, a Nobel Peace Prize Winner, Media Film Crew,Travel Writers, Athletes and most recently the world’s only ever made 3X Red System tri-panoramic camera onboard the boats! The camera was at Hornblower Niagara Cruises capturing panoramic footage of the breath-taking natural wonders and of our state-of-the-art catamarans. The filming is part of a promotion to encourage Japanese tourism in Toronto and Niagara Falls, Ontario. Where the footage will be used will leave you speechless!

FILMING AT HORNBLOWER NIAGARA CRUISES

The crew of 18  from ‘Knock On Wood Productions Tokyo’ started their day off bright and early at 7:30am for a morning start to capture the sunlight as it casted its rays over the sparking water. The crew arrived in three moving sized trucks with their loads of technical equipment, including the $500,000 camera. The camera and its entourage and yes you read that right the camera had its own crew of 3 to transport, operate and secure made their way filming from the Niagara Parkway to the Hornblower Landing.

THE WORLD’S ONLY 3X RED SYSTEM CAMERA COMES TO NIAGARA FALLS, CANADA 

The 3X Red System consists of 3 red camera bodies synced together. The high resolution shoots images that can only be used to be shown on the screen being used at Haneda Airport in Japan.The camera is 1-metre wide and 50 cm tall depending on the various lenses or monitors used. The camera bodies were created by Red Camera in Lake Forest, California and were assembled in Toronto, Ontario. The camera lenses were created in Jena, Germany and Angeiux in Saint-Heand, France. For a full set of lenses and zooms are valued at $250,000 CAN. The cost of the body of the camera is valued at $250,000. Combined the camera costs more than half a million dollars!

THE WORLD’S BIGGEST TELEVISION SCREEN AT ONE OF THE WORLD’S BUSIEST AIRPORTS 

 

Just when you thought Niagara Falls couldn’t get any more famous, it just did! The footage captured of the Falls and of 700-passenger Hornblower Niagara Cruises boats will be displayed across one of the world’s biggest television screens standing at 2.4 metres in height and 16.8 metres wide. The 16 K Ultra Wide View Screen is located at one of Japan’s newest airports known as the Tokyo Haneda Airport located in Hanedakuko, Ota, Japan. The airport is one of the three that serve the Greater Tokyo area and it also happens to be the second largest busiest airport in Asia and the fourth busiest in the world! In 2014, the airport saw more than 72 million passengers. When the news broke in 2013 that Tokyo will be hosting the 2020 Olympics the Japanese government agreed to be fully ready to combine Haneda Airport to the the Tokyo station.

The highlight of Niagara Falls will expose the Niagara Region as a world known travel-to destination as well as the province of Ontario.
