The Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series is heading to New York. Needless to say hornblower is pretty excited about this event hitting New York Harbor.

This is the first time the America’s Cup has been seen in New York since 1920, so make sure you get down to watch the action, as you may not have the chance to see it again!

The event will be running Saturday, May 7 and Sunday, May 8. Actual races start at 2pm but you’ll want to get in early to catch all the action. The best way to get to see it all is down at the official event village, located at Brookfield Place Waterfront Plaza, where there’ll be pre and post sailing entertainment.

You’ll be able to witness the Dock-Out Ceremony and cheer on the teams before they head out onto the water. Brookfield Place is also where the awards ceremony will be held.

If you really want to make an occasion of it, and why wouldn’t you, there are exclusive VIP options available for watching the race. America’s Cup Experiences provides patrons with an elevated experience by integrating the best viewing locations for the racing action and premium hospitality venues complete with gourmet food, premium beverages, and other exclusive amenities. You can learn more about VIP access here.

The America’s Cup is the world’s premier yacht race and its history dates back to August 1851 when the yacht, America, representing the New York Yacht Club sailed past the Royal Yacht to win the Royal Yacht Squadron’s 100 Pound Cup. Some say it symbolized a victory for the new world over the old.

Shortly after America won the 100 Guinea Cup and it was donated to the New York Yacht Club, where it was deemed that the trophy was to be “a perpetual challenge cup for friendly competition between nations.” And that’s how the America’s Cup was born.

The America’s Cup is also the oldest trophy in international sport.

This year’s race will see Oracle Team USA defend its title.
