Each year, The The Maritime Alliance honors a select number of individuals for their work in the Blue Economy.

According to Michael B. Previous recipients of the award are General Dynamics NASSCO; Mary Crowley (Project Kaisei); Southwest Fisheries Science Center; Dole Fresh Fruit Co.; SDSU Marine Ecology & Biology Students Association; and Pacific Tugboat Service.

In attendance at the event was Jim Unger, Vice President and General Manager of Hornblower Cruises & Events, San Diego. Unger comments, “The Maritime Alliance shares the ‘Environmental Stewardship’ company culture that lives within Hornblower Cruises & Events.” Unger continues, “Because of that, we are very honored to receive the Environmental Leadership Award on behalf of our amazing Hornblower crew.”

The mission of The Maritime Alliance is “Promoting Blue Tech & Blue Jobs” and is the cluster organizer for the San Diego maritime technology community, fostering maritime business and technology innovation through collaboration around the U.S. and the world.

The Gala Dinner was the prelude to the annual Blue Tech & Economy Summit, which took place at the Crown Plaza San Diego – Mission Valley. In attendance were over 200 attendees, including speaker Todd Barber, Founder and Chairman of Reef Ball Foundation. Barber’s compelling speech focused on promoting a sustainable ocean.
