Lights, Camera….Rick! It seemed so long ago, but it’s hard to believe that it was only 2 months ago when Hornblower Niagara Cruises welcomed Canada’s T.V. personality, author, funnyman and Newfoundland native, Rick Mercer on board to film a CBC television shown watched by millions known as the ‘Rick Mercer Report.’

Guests were in for a friendly and funny surprise when Rick and his camera crew made a day visit to capture what it is really like to be a passenger on Canada’s most iconic signature experience. Whether you are a visitor to Niagara Falls, Canada or a local to the city, either way you will appreciate Rick’s humour that had our guests and staff laughing throughout filming. This wasn’t Rick’s first visit to the honeymoon capital as he had previously visited and filmed at Niagara College in Niagara on the Lake, Ontario in 2011 and at the Niagara Falls Tunnel in 2012. His visit not only gave a different perspective as what it is like to ride our brand new boats, but it also showcased something new and exciting for those looking to plan a trip to Niagara Falls, Canada in the near future.

The day of filming began bright and early and the sun shined on the Hornblower Landing as film crew captured the stillness of the beauty surrounding the gorge. Rick blended in with Niagara Cruises staff members where he checked in guests with their wristbands and assisted assembling guests’ with their signature Canadian red ponchos. I guess you can say we didn’t expect anything less from a highly ranked and much loved TV personality.

Rick and his crew also made a friendly stop on the Hornblower Guardian, our 149-passenger Jetboat to film and get up close and personal with the Canadian Horseshoe Falls. Sites of Niagara Falls, the boats, the Hornblower Landing, and even a few friendly faces from our own staff will be featured on the show.
