For years, visitors travelling from afar to Niagara Falls always ask, ‘Has the Falls ever stopped working?” The answer: Yes!  After forty-one years, stunning images of the American Falls appears only baring rock and well no water! The image, found by Russ Glasson states he found it in an old shoebox that belonged to his in-laws and had been stowed away until now.

It was revealed that between 1931-1954, rockslide plates formed underneath the American Falls causing a back up of boulders underneath the waterfalls. The plan was arranged for engineers to build a 600 ft. dam that would consist of 27,000 tons of rocks and would stretch across the Niagara River causing 60,000 gallons of water to be directed to the Canadian Horseshoe Falls. On June 12, 1969, the American Falls had stopped. After a period of six months, on November 25, 1969, the American Falls opened its floodgates in front of a crowd of 2,650 onlookers.
