At 11am on Tuesday, November 11th, Millions of Canadians will stop from their daily activities and jobs to take a few moments to remember those who were lost fighting for their country and their people in the wars. They were our grandfathers, fathers, mothers, sisters, brothers, friends and today and always fallen heroes in our hearts. As Hornblower Niagara Cruises we come together as a business, as a country, and as a united nation to show our support and gratitude for those who served for this beautiful country.

Remembrance Day has been recognized since the First World War began on August 4, 1914 and ended on November 11, 1918. Today and always we pay tribute to the men and women who have served and sacrificed to protect the freedom of the country. The city of Niagara Falls, Canada will take part in a march being held at the based of Clifton Hill and at the Gale Centre at 11am. Visitors and locals are welcomed to take part in the ceremony.

Hornblower Niagara Cruises recognizes the hundreds of thousands of men and women by taking time to reflect and pay tribute to those lost but not forgotten. Vibrant red poppies have been spotted by employees and most Canadians who wear them as a symbol of the flowers found on the lands in Europe noted in John McRae’s poem, ‘Flanders Fields’ that was written in 1915 during WW1.

 

How Canada Recognizes Remembrance Day

There are many ways Canadians celebrate the veterans including:

• Wearing a Poppy
• Attend Local Remembrance Day Ceremony
• Thank a Veteran by sending a postcard for peace
• Talk to a relative or friend who has served in the War
• Plant Your Own Garden of Remembrance
