The Most Instagram Worthy Winter Locations In The Niagara Region

The holidays are quickly approaching and there is no better way to get into the season than looking your festive best at some of the most famous locations in the province! Niagara has all the views that will give your Instagram followers a serious case of FOMO. With the Niagara region only 30-minutes from the Buffalo International Airport and 1.5 hours from Toronto Pearson International Airport, Niagara is an easy destination to get to and an ideal location to visit. Below are some of our favourite spots to visit this season.

Marilyn Monroe Building

Many visitors travelling to Niagara Falls want to get up close and personal with the Falls!  Our Voyage to the Falls boat tours is a perfect way to do so, we can also suggest a few other stunning ways to see the Falls. The ‘Marilyn Monroe Building’ is located along the Niagara Parkway steps from the Niagara City Cruises Ticket Plaza, which marks the famous spot where the Hollywood starlet once stood and filmed an iconic scene for the movie ‘Niagara’. The location is covered by a 15’ x 15’ stone Pavillion marking her moment in the city for decades. The location faces directly across to the Bridal Veil and American Falls, all while the Horseshoe Falls roars in the distance. Be sure to visit in the evening when the lighting is spectacular!

The Rainbow Bridge

The Rainbow Bridge is not only a great location to enjoy the views of all three waterfalls, but it also allows you to be in two countries at the same time making it truly Instagram worthy. Many visitors walk across the bridge – with a passport in hand of course – to cross to either Canada or the United States. The bridge stands at 62 metres (203 feet) tall and is 442 metres (1,450 feet) long. The Rainbow Bridge also sees the most travellers out of the four regional Canadian – U.S. border crossings, with over 4 million travellers, every year!

Winter Festival of Lights

The annual OPG Winter Festival of Lights kicked off in November each year and we can’t think of a better (or more colourful) backdrop for your boomerangs! Travel along the 8 km (5 miles) of twinkling lights and be mesmerized by the festival’s moving and still light displays. From November to January, you can choose from several different districts to capture perfect Instagram photos and videos.

Queen Street, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario

Once called ‘Canada’s prettiest town’ by Winston Churchill, this Niagara city is famously known for its 1800-1900s charm, featuring red brick buildings, fire-lit street lanterns, quaint boutiques, vintage hotels, theatres, cafes, and world-class restaurants. Located at the end of the Niagara River, where it meets Lake Ontario, Niagara-on-the-Lake is the heart of Niagara Wine country. Surrounded by over 100 + wineries, downtown Queen Street offers all the delights, bringing guests back in time to Jane Austen’s era. The street has been featured in numerous movies for its picture-perfect ambiance, so taking your picture along the famous road will no doubt leave your friends and family envious.

Peller Estates 10 Below Ice Lounge

Their hospitality may be warm, but their 10 Below Ice Lounge is anything but! Visit Peller Estates Winery for a truly Canadian winter wine experience. The customized space is filled with an ice bar, ice sculptures, even an ice chandelier! The idea is to encourage visitors to experience Niagara’s famous Icewine, known for its intense sweet flavours. Don’t worry, winter parkas and smartphone gloves are provided to keep you warm and free to Instagram away! Grab your loved ones and cozy up as you enjoy a glass of Vidal, Riesling, or Cabernet Franc Icewine. The experience is an intimate one, only allowing 15 people in the lounge at a time. Goat Island

Situated between Bridal Falls and Horseshoe Falls, this spot is accessible through two bridges that travel from the island to the US mainland. You can reach this special area on foot or by car, making it a convenient location to snap a few Instagram pics.

Head to Terrapin Point above the Horseshoe Falls for an incredible picture next to the water. If you’re exploring Goat Island in the evening, you may even catch some Instagram-worthy fireworks at Terrapin Point. Otherwise, try to stay until the sun sets for more photo opportunities.

Пещера ветров

Cave of the Winds is another exciting spot on Goat Island, offering exciting photo opps for Instagram. This attraction is in Niagara Falls Park on the NY side, allowing you to get close to the falls without taking a boat.

Here, many people take pictures with their bright yellow ponchos, a marker of a visit to Niagara Falls. It’s one of the most popular Niagara Falls Instagram spots. Make sure to bring a waterproof camera or a water-resistant case for your phone, as you’ll likely get sprayed by the falls.

Niagara City Cruises Boat Tour

Grab some photos of the falls from a different perspective by taking a ride on one of the Niagara City Cruises boats. This tour leads you to the falls via the water. So, you’ll find an incredible view of the cascading waterfalls from below.

This tour is arguably one of the best photo spots in Niagara Falls. Typically, when you see Instagram pictures of people at the falls, it’s a photo snapped while they were riding on the iconic Niagara City Cruises boats. Make sure to add this activity to your itinerary, especially if you plan to upload your trip to Instagram.

Niagara Vineyards

The Niagara Vineyards are some of the most picturesque spots, with 88 options to choose from in the Niagara region. This area is well-known for producing delicious wines due to the unique climate surrounding the falls. Each winery is Instagrammable, with its lush grape trees and green landscapes. Snap a few photos with your friends as you taste the wine. Or, take a vineyard tour and check out the barrel cellars for additional photo opportunities.

Don’t forget to snap a few pictures of the expertly plated food or light bites at the wineries. You can even use your glass of wine as the central focus or as a way to alter the coloring in your images (by taking a photo through your filled wine glass).

Клифтон Хилл

Set on the Canadian side of the falls, Clifton Hill presents many fun Instagram photo spots. It’s a lively street in Canada featuring rides, themed restaurants, and more. Make sure to grab a picture by or on the giant Ferris wheel for an incredible photo. There are other fun areas to snap a few pictures of, including the Dinosaur Adventure Golf course (get a picture with a dinosaur!) and the Movieland Wax Museum of the Stars.

It’s easy to spend a full day exploring Clifton Hill Street, snapping content for Instagram. You’ll find cool photo spots along the street with brightly-coloured signs and a long list of rides and attractions.

Although we only named a few locations, there are many beautiful locations to capture the ultimate photos of your visit across the Niagara Region.
